As usual, with Andrew organising the trip 2 passengers vans picked us up and departed for Pekan on the night of 24th.
Day 1:
After a quick breakfast, we prepared to set off in 2 boats, the larger boat for 8 anglers and the smaller for 4 jigging anglers (not to mention 2 mammoths in this group.
This report comes from the smaller boat, leaving the good stuff on the larger boat to be posted by the other guys....
Ah Chuan started the ball rolling with a small one....
Afew losses and burst, managed 4 juvenile Mackies...
Night falls, learnt that the larger boat have got 11 or 12 Tuskies and missed afew other biggies. While having the day's debrief and waiting for dinner, there is no lack of entertainment...
....we entertain the puppy, that is!
Day 2:
Very smooth water. And the bigger boat had 3 hookups of sailfish all at once.
On our smaller boat, we had afew bustoffs on jigs......probably by larger Mackies or Cobia,....it is definitely not motivating at all!
.....and one that needs to be shared......
Went hunting to several other locations, jigging, trolling and luring were not successful, not even when using live prawns.
A little one that was released....
In the end , we went for some Selar.....
....guess what? The deckie's handline for Selars got whacked by a Marlin....and it was handlined in.
...subsequently 'dental surgeon' removed that few hooks from it, resuscitated and released back ihome....!
At the end of the trip,....the job needs to be done, sorting, washing...packing....
Overall for both the boats:
Smaller Boat (4 Jiggers)
4½ mackies x 1+kg,
1 Mackerel Tuna 2kg
1 Marlin (hand lined, C&R)
Mixture of Tuskie (Wrasse), small groupers, Selars, Kampongs etc..etc.., all below 1kg each.
Larger Boat (8 'Free-styled' anglers)
1 Mackie x 3-4kg? (TBC)
1 Ebek 4-5kg? (TBC)
11-12 Tuskie (Wrasse) from 0.5kg to 3-4kg? (TBC)
2-3 Sailfish (C&R)
Numerous mixture of small groupers, Selars, Kampongs, etc..etc.. all below 1kg each.
(Estimated catch based on observation, to be verified by those guys onboard)
........of course, not forgetting eating at the end of frame dinner...
